\n
\nFor those who are interested and may be doing their topic on Last.fm, I highly recommend that you give Lawrence Lessig's chapter on Hybrid Economies a read.
\n
\nNot only is he a bit of a literary babe (in the sense that he's just really good at expressing in plain terms all of these new concepts) but he also looks at Last.fm in the context of hybrid economies (Lessig 2008, 199).
\n
\nHe examines how Last.fm as a website is a 'unique mix of community and technology' (Lessig 2008, 199) where it not only watches what you listen to but also links you with other users in your neighbourhood.
\n
\nThe way that this generates commercial value is the interest and information-sharing that 'listening to music' can create (Lessig 2008, 200). This listening becomes a form of advertising - which is all part of a 'conversation' (Lessig 2008, 200).
\n
\nThis whole concept of hybrid economies is really doing my head in a bit, but Lessig does a great job of simplifying the terms and raises a lot of questions about the future of new media.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"26696043","dateCreated":"1283743069","smartDate":"Sep 5, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"gmdixon","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/gmdixon","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/kcb202kb1to3.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/26696043"},"dateDigested":1532653484,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Size does matter","description":"The tiny multi-touch is even better for the consumer on the go; although, it is ridiculously small.

\nEach product Apple produces seem to be altering how we listen and even how much. For example, watching my dads amazement when I bought him his first iPod was amusing, "times are a changing" he said. What we can do today is amazing compared to my dad's music listening limitations. Furthermore, this product demonstrates again, how effective Apple's campaigning has been\/will be. They are challenging themselves and that is pretty awesome.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"26697281","body":"http:\/\/www.brisbanetimes.com.au\/digital-life\/mp3s\/ipod-nano-doubles-as-iwatch-20100906-14wnx.html<\/a>

\n
\nI agree with Vahnlow. Apple is narrowing it's market with the new iPod nano as the item and the controls are too small for the older generation who may not have the most nimble fingers and perfect vision. I think that this nano is too small. The previous generation was, in my view, perfect: Slim enough, lightweight enough and fit ideally in the palm of your hand. And what about losing it? I know you can lose anything but surely if something is so light and so small, it's more likely to lose? I think Apple need to put a hold on their priorities on making the Nano smaller...the Shuffle fills that role!
